Purpose
The Nethy Bridge & Vicinity Community Council (NBVCC) represents the interests of local residents and works with The Highland Council, public bodies, and community organisations to support life in the village and surrounding area.
Community Councils in Scotland were established under the Local Government (Scotland) Acts of 1973 and 1994, giving local people a direct voice on issues that affect their area.
NBVCC meets regularly to discuss planning, environment, transport, and community matters, and to coordinate local views for submission to The Highland Council and other authorities.

A 60-Year Vision for Abernethy
The Community Council is working with the RSPB to create a long-term vision for Abernethy Forest, looking ahead sixty years to how the reserve and surrounding landscape can thrive for both wildlife and the community.
The project began in 2019, marking 60 years of RSPB involvement at Loch Garten. Following a well-attended public meeting in March 2021, it was agreed to develop this shared vision using the Scottish Land Commission’s guidance on community engagement.
Get Involved
The vision is a continuing partnership between the RSPB and the local community. Everyone is encouraged to take part by sharing ideas, feedback, or volunteering time.
