Nethy Bridge is Open and Ready to Welcome You

For three weeks, the centre of Nethy Bridge was a hive of activity unlike anything we have experienced before. Our village was filled with fire engines, police vehicles, emergency service personnel and an incredible number of volunteers, all working together in response to the devastating wildfires affecting the area.
Our Community Centre and playing field quickly became a muster point for emergency service vehicles and machinery, before ultimately becoming a command centre for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) for three weeks.
At the same time, our community did what it does best. The doors of the Community Centre were opened 24 hours a day, with people from across the village and beyond coming together to provide meals, baking, hot drinks, supplies and support for those working tirelessly on the ground.
To say we are proud of our community would be a massive understatement.
It was truly awe-inspiring to see so many people step forward, whether that meant preparing food, making cups of tea late into the evening, donating supplies, helping behind the scenes or simply asking, "What can I do?"
Of course, our greatest thanks must go to those who fought the fires themselves. They worked extraordinarily long hours in incredibly difficult conditions to bring the fires under control and keep our communities safe. We are beyond grateful to each and every person who played a part.
Looking Ahead
After an incredibly challenging few weeks, we are very pleased to share that the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has now withdrawn, with ongoing monitoring for hotspots being carried out by landowners, RSPB and Forestry and Land Scotland.
Nethy Bridge and the surrounding area are open and enthusiastically welcoming visitors.
While the impact of the fires has understandably dominated recent weeks, much of the area remains open and ready to be enjoyed. Our local businesses, cafes, accommodation providers and attractions are here and would love to see you.
Many businesses across the area have experienced a significant drop in visitors during the wildfires, at what is normally an important time of year for our local economy. One of the best ways you can now support our community is simply by coming to visit.
So, if you have been considering a trip to Nethy Bridge or the surrounding areas, please do not be put off. Come for a walk, stop for a coffee, pop into a local business, stay for a few days and enjoy everything this beautiful part of the Highlands has to offer.
After seeing just how extraordinary our community is during the most difficult of circumstances, we could not be prouder to call Nethy Bridge home.
